Carolyn Jones was born in Amarillo, Texas USA. She is best-known for her roles in House of Wax, From Here to Eternity, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Addams Family.

In 1958 Jones was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress for The Bachelor Party. The same year, she won a Golden Globe Award for most promising newcomer-female. Jones died of cancer on August 3, 1983.

Carolyn played Morticia Addams in all episodes of the original television series. In addition, she also played Morticia's older sister Ophelia Frump in five episodes of the series. She voiced Morticia in the The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode "Wednesday Is Missing". She reprised the role of Morticia in the television special Halloween with the New Addams Family.
