Christmas with the Addams Family is the fifteenth episode of the second season of the original series of The Addams Family, and the forty-ninth overall episode of the series. It first aired 24 December 1965 on ABC.

Summary[]

Mr. Thompson, the neighbor who told Pugsley and Wednesday that witches weren't real at Halloween, now tells them that there's no Santa. Uncle Fester is chosen to slide down the chimney dressed as Santa Claus to prove the existence of Santa to the children, but he gets stuck in the chimney. The kids slide down the fireman's pole and express their doubts about Santa. Gomez, Lurch, Cousin Itt, and even Morticia and Grandmama each don a red suit and appear to the children.

  • The Maharaja of Manipur sends a basket with a rope, a flute and a turban as a Christmas gift to Gomez.
  • Wednesday wants a new Marie Antoinette doll from Santa. Pugsley asks for a bow and arrow, so he can shoot apples off of Uncle Fester's head.
  • Cousin Caliban, Aunt Ophelia, and Aunt Singe are mentioned in this episode.
  • Ophelia's favorite perfume is Holiday Macabre.
  • When Thing looks in the phone book, he is a left hand instead of his usual right.
  • When Wednesday is using the bellows to blow air up the fireplace, "One, Little Two, Little Three Little Tombstones" by Vic Mizzy plays in the background.

  • It was remade for The New Addams Family episode with the same name.
